bin Qassim Al Thani in 1938 to serve as a Coast Guard station. It was later renovated into a museum to display diverse exhibits and artworks, most especially for
contemporarily topical archaeological findings.

Tour’s Program

Al-Khor is a former pearl fishing centre which is older than Doha but much smaller in size. It is about 50 kms from the capital city to the North of Doha
qatar is home to the Avicenna Marina species; it is known as the grey or white mangrove trees, with the largest eight forests located in the east coast of the country. The oldest and largest mangroves can be found at Al Thakira and Al Khor. Although the government have starting a replanting project around the country, the mangrove lake at Al Wakra was recently uprooted for development. In a country where the harsh desert conditions limit the vegetation growth, mangroves in Qatar provide a haven for birds, fish and mammals. Recent studies have shown that Avicenna Marina populations have the ability to adapt to the varying weather along the Qatar coastline through the evolution of genetic variations in the different mangrove forests.
For our ancestors, Al Zubarah was a thriving pearl fishing and trading port. Now it’s Qatar’s largest heritage site, with its impressive city wall, ancient residential palaces and houses, markets, industrial areas and mosques.
It’s one of the best-preserved examples of an 18th and 19th century Gulf merchant town and in 2013 was named a UNESCO World Heritage site.
